Bridge Cranes
Bridge cranes span the width of a bay and travel along runways, covering the entire rectangular area underneath. Fabricators, steel service centers, machine shops, and precast plants rely on them for heavy, frequent lifts. Top running cranes ride on rails above the runway beams and handle the biggest capacities, while under running cranes hang from the beams and suit lighter loads in buildings with limited headroom. Before you buy, have an engineer confirm your building can support the loads or plan for freestanding columns. Used bridge cranes can work, but relocating and recertifying one adds cost.
